The Google Fiber Academy field trip will be a chance for participants to learn about Google Fiber and to explore the Google facility in Atlanta. During the visit, Google staff will present information related to career/professional opportunities. Lunch will be served while on the field trip.
Agenda
12:45 pm – Transport from Hilton Downtown Atlanta to Fiber Academy
1:15 pm – Fiber Academy arrival and lunch
2:00 pm – Fiber Academy Tour
2:15 pm – Black Google Network, Atlanta and Fiber Academy Introductions
2:45 pm Breakout Sessions – We will have 3 different areas at the Academy set up for students to spend 20 minutes with Google volunteers. We will rotate the sessions 3 times so that everyone will have time to attend each session.
Session 1: Resume Building:
Google volunteers will provide 1:1 time with students, quick tips on resume building and guidance on improving their current resumes.
Session 2: Career Development:
Google volunteers will facilitate a panel discussion to share their career experiences and answer questions from the students.
Session 3: Mentorship partnership:
Google volunteers will meet with students and exchange information to possibly become mentors to informally transfer knowledge and provide support.
