Haley Haskell, Program Assistant

Haley Haskell serves as a Program Assistant at Sustainable Horizons Institute. Haley is an intern from Iowa State University, where she is pursuing an Elementary Education degree with endorsements to teach mathematics and reading, as well as a minor in Learning Technologies. She plans to go back to school to obtain her Master’s degree and a science endorsement after graduation.

Haley loves to learn and teach about STEM topics. She also believes that every child deserves high quality teachers, which is why she plans to teach at a low-income school in the future. One of her future goals is to inspire her students’ interest in STEM, and to help them consider STEM careers regardless of their race and gender. This goal, as well as her fascination with STEM ideas, help make Haley a great fit at SHI.

While working at SHI, Haley has been able to help coordinate the BE program at SIAM CSE17. As a future educator, she feels it was very rewarding to see the lasting impact the BE program has on students. She looks forward to working with SHI to implement STEM projects at the high school level, and to help coordinate the BE program at SIAM CSE19.
