optimization algorithm development for problems with computationally expensive blackbox functions; simulation optimization
Guided Affinity Group Description:
This guided affinity group will explore MS213 and MS239 minisymposia on engineering applications of derivative free optimization. Dr. Mueller will explain some basics of what optimization is and what computational hurdles we run into when large simulation models are involved.
Pre-session discussion: Thursday from 9 am – 10:00 am, Room 406/407
Sessions:
- MS213 Science and Engineering Applications of Derivative-Free Optimization – Part I of II, Thursday, March 2, 10:00 AM – 11:40 AM
- MS239 Science and Engineering Applications of Derivative-Free Optimization – Part II of II, Thursday, March 2, 2:15 PM – 3:55 PM .
Post-Session Discussion: Thursday, 3:55-4:25 pm, Room 406/407
