The skillsets needed to leverage parallel architectures is becoming increasingly critical with the ubiquity of multi-core architectures. In this fun and hands-on workshop, we will introduce attendees to parallel computing on the Raspberry Pi. We will discuss basic multicore architecture and the Raspberry Pi and the potential of parallel computing through OpenMP to reduce the computational workload of applications. After completing learning about OpenMP through some simple exercises, students will see a larger parallel application and do a small benchmarking study.
Hardware will be provided for this workshop.
