Catalina Torres

Catalina Torres serves as the Program Coordinator of Sustainable Horizons Institute. She has always been impassioned about educational equity and began her professional career as a math educator in a Title 1 school. This experience gave her the assurance to take a risk and accept an opportunity to work as an associate project manager for an Information Technology consulting firm. In this role, she worked with two fortune 500 clients and had oversight of all project finances, ensured their alignment with Statement Of Works, and coordinated their outsource program. The outsource program recruited junior talent to educate, re-train and employ the underserved in Hartford, CT. She is now combining what she loves with her acquired skills to continue her mission of serving the underrepresented while supporting the Sustainable Horizons Institute’s programs.

Catalina received a B.A. from Rutgers University and her M.Ed. from Grand Canyon University. Catalina believes that high academic expectations combined with culturally sensitive relationships foster the culture of achievement necessary to equip students with college and career readiness skills.
