Help Communicating Your Science

SIAM has a great opportunity for anyone hoping to get help communicating their research!

Do you want to craft an effective message about your research, a message that impresses potential employers, garners media attention, and doesn’t make a lay person’s eyes glaze over? Tell us about your research and explain why you would like help producing a YouTube video communicating your work—in a video! **A video shot on a smartphone or tablet is more than sufficient. Submissions will be judged on content, not video quality.

Email your video pitch to videopitch@siam.org by July 24.  Make sure to address these questions in your pitch: What is your topic? Why is it important? Who will benefit from your work and why you need help communicating it.

Submissions will be judged on prospective content, creativity, and prospective audience, and the winner will receive professional advice and coaching on research communication, along with the services of a professional videographer to film and edit the video. A winning entry will be selected by the end of August; all coaching and production work will be completed by the end of 2015.
