Jasmine Pineda serves as the Program Assistant of Sustainable Horizons Institute. Jasmine received her B.S in Sustainability Studies from the University of California, Riverside, and is currently pursuing her M.S in Environmental Science & Policy from Johns Hopkins University. As an undergraduate student, she worked with UCR’s Office of Sustainability primarily focusing on community outreach and instilling a sustainable culture on campus and reporting directly to the Sustainability Office and Sustainability Coordinator. Jasmine has also served as a Climate Corps AmeriCorps Fellow with The Energy Coalition, focusing on education and engagement in disadvantaged and underserved communities within Southern California. In working with The Energy Coalition, she realized her passion for working in the non-profit sector and is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion in educational and professional institutions. Jasmine believes that a large factor in building sustainable communities is inclusivity and she hopes to contribute to Sustainable Horizons Institute’s mission for diversity and inclusion by working on SHI programs such as the Broader Engagement (BE) program and Sustainable Research Pathways (SRP), among other impactful projects.
