Jasmine Pineda serves as the Program Assistant of Sustainable Horizons Institute.
As an undergraduate student, she worked with the University of California, Riverside’s Office of Sustainability, focusing on community outreach and instilling a sustainable culture on campus. She directly reported to the Sustainability Office and Sustainability Coordinator. Ms. Pineda was a Climate Corps AmeriCorps Fellow with The Energy Coalition. Her work focused on education and engagement in disadvantaged and underserved communities within Southern California. It was while working with The Energy Coalition that she realized her passion for working in the non-profit sector and for advocating for diversity and inclusion in educational and professional institutions. She believes inclusivity is key to building sustainable communities, and she contributes to Sustainable Horizons Institute’s mission for greater diversity and inclusion by working on SHI programs such as the Broader Engagement (BE) program and Sustainable Research Pathways (SRP).
Ms. Pineda received her B.S. in Sustainability Studies from the University of California, Riverside, and is currently pursuing her M.S. in Environmental Science & Policy from Johns Hopkins University.
