I was honored to be invited to work over the summer and bring two students with me. We worked on improving the accuracy of drug binding predictions. It was exciting to see my students working side-by-side in a true interdisciplinary team. I returned the next summer to transfer the same problem into a machine learning framework. The experience was extremely valuable to all students and me. The work so inspired my student, Derek Jones, that he went on to be a data scientist at another lab and is now entering his PhD program, all building on the work we did together.
