Mrs. Raes graduated from Upper Iowa University, magna cum laude, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. She has a track record of leadership in command and personnel solutions in her 20-year career in the Army National Guard. She served at all levels, from the bottom up, in managing and implementing the personnel data systems of the Army National Guard. In industry, she served as an Instructional Designer, creating multimedia educational tools for both the military and corporations while employed at Universal Systems and Technology. She also acquired her teaching authorization and was a substitute teacher in the Ballard Community School District. In 2011, she reentered the work force as a Program Assistant at the Krell Institute, a non-profit involved in administering the Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellowship, where her expertise was in collecting, organizing, and publishing data and information. Mrs. Raes volunteers as a soccer coach, as well as a soccer referee, and has been very involved in her community as board president of the Parks and Recreation Board, and as a mentor in the Ballard Community School District.
