Biography:
I am Chau Hoang, born on September 24, 1995. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Danang University of Education, where I received many awards and supports, notably from the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training. Recognizing my dedication and aspirations, I was granted the opportunity to study abroad at New Mexico State University, USA. Here, I earned my Master of Science degree in Mathematics, and I am currently pursuing a PhD degree in Applied Mathematics. In 2022, I delivered a talk in the American Mathematical Society Special Session; and recently, I was honored with the Outstanding Graduate Student Awards from New Mexico University for the academic year 2023 – 2024. Alongside my mathematical expertise, I have honed my computational skills and proficiency in Data Science, utilizing tools like Matlab and Python. These skills have been applied in various research projects and have enhanced my effectiveness in teaching college courses I have been entrusted with.

Where has your research been published or where have you conducted research/technical projects? My jointed work with Dr. Jianjun Paul Tian (New Mexico State University) and Dr. Tuan Anh Phan (University of Idaho) on a research project: “”Stochastic Modeling of CAR T cell therapy with in silicon clinical trials”” has been submitted for publication of 26 pages. Currently, I am engaged in two projects of stochastic modeling, one for ontogenetic growth with data fitting, and the other for oncolytic virotherapy.
Please describe your research/academic interests:
I have developed my skills to be ideally suited for Applied Maths in Biology, particular in cancer research. Still, I am open to any opportunities and can quickly adapt with minimal supervision.

Research Synergy:
I would like to work on projects where I can utilize my skills and knowledge in ECP or Computational and Data Science research. I am especially interested in CANDLE and feel aligned with the project’s goals in predicting and enhancing treatment outcomes for cancer patients. My Stochastic Differential Equation background would be helpful when working with modeling and studying Molecular Dynamics as well as capturing variabilities among patients and conducting in silicon clinical trials; furthermore, I have experience in projects involving computational methods to study some biological and medical problems. I am eager to bring my knowledge and skills into practical applications and continuously learn to refine them further.
Motivation:
I am confident that my skills and dedication can make contributions to the specific project as well as the program’s goal in general. This program is inspiring lasting collaborations and inclusive workplace, which is perfect for me to gain hands-on experience and apply my research skills to real-world problems. The opportunity to work with experts in the field is extremely valuable for my career.
