What conference theme areas are you interested in:

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) for science and engineering
Applications in science, engineering, and industry
Data assimilation, challenges in data science, math of AI and ML
Education and interdisciplinary programs in CSE
Emerging software infrastructure for CSE, sustainability of numerical software
High-order methods, novel discretizations, and scalable solvers
High-performance computing, emerging architectures and programming paradigms
Model and dimensionality reduction
Quantum algorithms, quantum computation, and quantum information science

Academically I am interested in numerical methods for solving both partial and ordinary differential equations, discretization schemes and grid meshes applied to complex geometries, scientific and high-performance computing, and how all these areas arise in various mathematical models. In regards to research, in general, I am most interested in how these academic interests of mine arise in the global effort to combat climate change. Specifically, I am interested in modeling polar ice sheet melting and its effects on rising sea levels and furthering sheet melting, modeling the impact in widespread adoption of wind and solar powered energy on existing and older energy power grids, design and engineering challenges in mass-producing solid-state batteries, and researching ways to run modern and future high-performance computing systems and large scale data servers more energy efficiently while maintaining a minimal level of performance.

Non-Work Related Activities/Interests:

With all that has happened over the course of this year I have sadly been unable to participate in a lot of my normal non academic and or research related interests or greatly reduce level of participation. Normally though I would spend a lot of my time keeping myself healthy physically and mentally by running and hike frequently, playing soccer or basketball with friends, and taking short day trips out to nature reserves. Alongside this when I had some free time, I would also frequently be active in my community by donating food and clothing to my local shelters, help stock the community fridge, and participate in local fundraisers and marches. Lately though, I have continued these activities the best I can while being at home via digital means and picked up a new hobby in making very basic computer games.
