Institution/Organization: George Mason University.

Department: Mathematics.

Academic Status: Graduate Student.

What conference theme areas are you interested in:

Computational science and machine learning.

Interests:

I am mostly interested in the applications of mathematics to the real-world. These include physical systems that can be modeled via coupled differential equations which can then be solved by sophisticated computational algorithms. Currently, I am considering looking at applications of mathematics to data driven approaches to solving grand challenges including global health and disease dynamics and access to clean water.

My specific interest is in developing fast, reliable algorithms to solve such applications that give rise to big data. I am currently engaged in a course that involves Deep Learning and I hope to use some of these tools in my future research. I also hope that this conference will help provide me with some new research directions.

Non-Work Related Activities/Interests:

Sports and Comic books are two of my favorite non-academic interests. Specifically, I love football because of the levels of complexity in the game in terms of strategies, scoring, choice of players etc. I feel the game also provides a lot of opportunity for critical thinking and creativity.
