Organization: Argonne National Lab
Project: Energy Justice Analysis of Climate Data
Where did you grow up?
I was born in Westmont, Illinois (~10 min from Argonne!)
What’s your field of study and how did you get into that field?
I did my undergrad at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and got degrees in both Applied Mathematics and Engineering Physics. Following this, I went to graduate school at the University of Iowa for a PhD in Physics studying machine learning for quantum field theory
What fascinates you about HPC?
I love the scale and practical applications of it.
What’s your current title and what do you do?
I’m currently an Associate Computational Scientist and I work with science teams to efficiently scale their codes.
What energy justice topic is most important to you and why?
Equal distribution of resources, especially as equitable access becomes an increasing point of contention.
