Apply to the 2021-2022 Sustainable Research Pathways (SRP) program! Sustainable Horizons Institute (SHI) and Berkeley Lab are partnering for the seventh consecutive year to provide aspiring faculty and students across a variety of institutions (Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Liberal Arts Colleges, Community Colleges, Public/State Universities, etc) with the opportunity to participate in a potentially life-changing experience and further their research. SRP has fostered nearly 250 collaborations between scientists from under-represented groups (women, ethnic minorities, people with disabilities, etc) and esteemed Berkeley Lab scientists.
Interested in collaborating with world-class DOE scientists, but don’t know how?
The goal of the SRP Workshop is to prepare participants for a collaborative summer research experience. Participants first take part in a matching workshop to share their research interests and learn about exciting Berkeley Lab research areas across a variety of disciplines. Workshop activities include an informal Q&A/preparatory webinar, an exploratory and matching workshop, and one-on-one matching sessions to discuss possible research collaborations with potential mentors.
Matched participants develop proposals for summer internships and apply for funding. Faculty and students expand their network by connecting with renowned lab staff and other participants from institutions across the country.
Who can participate?
We are accepting applications from faculty-student teams and unaccompanied undergraduate and graduate students.
Eligible applicants must be a full-time faculty member or student at an accredited US degree-granting institution of higher education.
Applications are due on Friday, September 24!
